METAL LIVE: Pig Destroyer, Nails & Despise You Review

Location: The Roxy Theatre

Line-up: Pig Destroyer, Nails, Despise you.

I love Pig Destroyer so much. Their music is super heavy, violent, messy and angry. I read about their music theme is about sex, murder, horror, insanity and hopeless on Metal Archives. I never read their lyrics, and I don't really care about their lyrics. What I love about them is the great energies in their music. It simply release all my stresses and bad mood everytime while I listen to their music. Almost every of their song has great riffs. And they play so well, the drum is super fast that create great layers for their music. Pig Destroyer gave their fans a great night. The mosh pit was insane during the show. I usually stand far away from mosh pit to avoid injury. People got injured when Nails playing. When I went to saw Cattle Decapitation, A guy stapped another guy's neck during the mosh pit. My metalhead friends said mosh pid is getting more voilent on death metal, deathcore and grindcore concerts.

I knew about Powerviolence from Despise You and Nails which is a raw and dissonant subgenre of hardcore punk. The style is closely related to thrashcore and grindcore. I like to listen some hardcore bands sometimes. Powerviolence is fun to listen for a while to me. I can felt the punk inspiration in their music. Nails are heavier than Despise You.

 Who Am I ?

I'm Sophie. There is a nerdy metalhead inside of me although I don't look like it. I don't like to drink, smoke or put makeup on to try to impress people. I love loud music and I have a huge passion for METAL.

When I was 18, I was interested in making websites. Therefore, I made a personal metal website called DyingLight that existed for 4 years. I putted many things related with METAL on the site. Right now, I changed DyingLight as a personal metal blog to record my favorite metal bands, metal lives and metal festivals I went, my metal collections and my old DyingLight stuff.
