METAL FEST: Summer Slaughter 2017

Location: The Novo by Microsoft. DTLA, CA

Line-up: The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Oceano, Slaughter To Prevail (didn't come), Origin, Rings of Saturn, Betraying The Martyrs, Lorna Shore, AngelMaker

Tickets: $33.57 (plus tax + fee)

I started to see the concert from Origin. They are so fast and heavy. I started to listen to Origin when I was around 18 to 20. I was super happy to see their live! They have the fastest drummer (John Longstreth) ever! They never change their style and always super technical and brutal. I love technical death metal!

Slaughter To Prevail didn't show off. I wish to see them. I have never see any Russian death metal band live.

Oceano's vocal Adam Warren has super super heavy and powerful voice. His voice blew me away! The music style is like regular deathcore type, nothing special, but their live is really violent and fun.

I think The Faceless is a talented band, very creative and progressive, but I just can't enjoy their new style with clear vocal and death growl in between. It's kind of awkward to me. except bands like Scar Symmetry, Edge of Sanity and earlier Killswitch Engage.

Dying Fetus was so amazing! It's my second time to see their live. The mosh pit was getting more insane. And yes they sang my favorite song "Killing On Adrenaline" from their best album as is. The song just super powerful and super releasing.

It's my first time to see The Black Dahlia Murder. I always want to see their live but never got a chance before. They were really awesome last night.

I enjoy going to Summer Slaughter each year. Even some people said the fest is not a pure death metal fest anymore, but everything changes and everything develops. I hope death metal never die.

 Who Am I ?

I'm Sophie. There is a nerdy metalhead inside of me although I don't look like it. I don't like to drink, smoke or put makeup on to try to impress people. I love loud music and I have a huge passion for METAL.

When I was 18, I was interested in making websites. Therefore, I made a personal metal website called DyingLight that existed for 4 years. I putted many things related with METAL on the site. Right now, I changed DyingLight as a personal metal blog to record my favorite metal bands, metal lives and metal festivals I went, my metal collections and my old DyingLight stuff.
